The thumbnail generator is part of the gallery module editor.
Add the images to the gallery by selecting them in the filemanager and clicking the "Add" button. The images will appear in the left part of the dialog window. Now you can open the thumbnail editor by clicking the button "Edit Thumbnails".
--cut--The dialog opens. You can browse through the list of images by clicking "Next" or "Prev". Move the red canvas to select the part of the image you want to use as thumb or click the "Fit height" or "Fit width" button. The preview on the right updates on every change.
If you are satisfied with the result click the save symbol.
